SW Marchador segment airs on HRTV!

SW November photos
Not too many photos in November – a bad month. A very high fever illness brought back from a QH show swept the barn and even our somewhat isolated Marchadors fell ill. It was horrid and long, but everyone kept eating and drinking so that was positive.

New Marchador Mares — Flying Oaks and SW
Rick Schatz, MM breeder and owner of Flying Oaks Ranch, and SW Future Foal are working together to acquire four mares from Great Lakes Marchadors, MI. With the death of their Marchador stallion, Jay and Susan Bryan have decided to stop breeding and have offered us their mares. Summerwind Marchadors first imported two of these mares from Brazil in 2005 before they were sold to Michigan.
We are excited and happy to be adding new mares to our breeding program. Two of the mares will be offered for sale, we hope to new Marchador breeders to continue their bloodlines as well as enjoy the ride! However, if not sold, all the mares will eventually be housed in Oklahoma at Flying Oaks Ranch to live the good life on Rick’s lush pastures. Ator Fazenda Zouga is a good match for the mares, but Flying Oaks and SW also will be breeding the mares with imported Brazilian semen to produce embryos.
If you are interested in an SW Future Foal, we would transport the mare and keep the mare and foal with us until weaning time at no additional cost to you.

Brisa Libertas – Koyote Libertas dam. Brasilia do Summerwind dam. Isabelle do Great Lakes dam. Need I say more? A beautiful mare, smaller at 14.2H, but with a marching gait as regular as a metronome. She is older, so we are hoping to be able to produce some embryos from her, and offer her a forever home for the rest of her days. Imported. ABCCMM registered
Atriz de Itajoana – A smaller mare at 14.2H but also powerfully built with a beautiful face (Abaiba). Atriz has had 2 foals here in the U.S. and we look forward to having her contribute more to the Marchador bloodlines here in the U.S. Sweet temperament and a great pick if looking for a foal for the whole family to enjoy. Amethyst do Summerwind – imported in-utero. The only daughter of a renowned Brazilian stallion named Irapuru de Joatinga. So, we are super excited to continue his genes. Amethyst will be offered for sale to a forever home. Isabelle do Great Lakes – Brisa Libertas x Oxum do Vale da Prata. With his early death, Oxum left only 2 breeding offspring in the US. He had a great gait and even better temperament. Isabelle will be started under saddle starting November 1 and ready to go in February 2014. You can buy her now for less and take over the training. Priced to sell to a breeder, but if you are interested in her as a riding horse, we will sell her retaining breeding rights to produce some embryos or foals from her. ABCCMM eligible.

Historic Fazendas of Brazil–translated from Portuguese
Campo Lindo Farm (Fazenda)
Founded in 1870, Campo Lindo Farm lies in the south of Minas Gerais. With a noble and mighty facade, the house has wide doors and windows and a colonial roof having detailed inspired by European Architecture. Its inside is made up of more than 20 rooms holding ornaments, furniture, photographs and documents of the time, a large collection kept by the Junqueira Andrade for the preservation of the memory of several generations who lived there. The property was always outstanding as an authentic farm of Minas Gerais, with Netherlander cattle raised for milk and horses as well.
It was one of the most important horse farms in the history of the Mangalarga and Mangalarga Marchador breeds. It is also the seat of the JB lineage- a symbol of quality and beauty, which, even today is considered one of the main stud farms of magnificent animals.
In 200 years of activity, the breeding establishment always selected impeccable examples of the breed which improved Marchador breed. Due to its passion for development of these animals, the economy the farm always around revolved around horse breeding. Beline JB, the stallion born in 1901, was the most outstanding reproducer in the south of Minas. Having an exceptionally fine march, the stallion transmitted to its progeny the best characteristics of the Mangalarga Marchador. Several others stand out: Sincero JB, Quartel JB, Haity JB, Tostao JB, Apolo JB, Omelete JB and Atrevido JB.
The establishment was started by Jose Braulio Junqueira de Amdrade, who took care to refine the breeding with the objective of producing horses with a strong structure which could yield great comfort during leisure and robustness to work in the fields and ranch. Totally devoted to the activity, the breeder made the JB line famous and was able to consolidate a herd of great refinement and racial expression without forgetting the functional qualities. Succeeding Jose Braulio at the farm was his first born son, Urbano Junqueira de Andrade. He gave continuance to the work of selecting and perfecting breedings with the responsibility of keeping the JB line in the elite of the national circuit of Mamgalarga breeders. From generation to generation the family has kept betting on the saddle temperament and the smooth gaits of their horses. They produce animals with nobleness of Marcha and impeccable conformation.
Today, this responsibility befalls Luis Antonio Vilela Junqueira, who is at the head of the administration of the Campo Lindo farm. He also devotes his life to the preservation and quality branded on the JB line by his ancestors.
editors notes: The first sons of the Baron frequently chose their initials to brand their horses. Hence, JB was Jose Braulio. The JB line is still noted today for a fine Marcha. Often, the color is bay, and recentle, the popular pinto, and they are strong in structure. Frozen semen donor Talisma Kafe is pure JB blood.
