Gaia’s foal is born!

Born March 26, 2019 to Gaia do Summerwind, a black filly (probably will be grey).

The sire is Fole de Maripa, using imported frozen semen from Agro Maripa, Brazil. Gaia is the first Marchador foal born in the US using imported frozen semen. Gaia’s sire was Oma de Maripa, also from Agro Maripa. This foal marks the fourth generation for Summerwind Marchadors following the mare’s line: Brisa Libertas (imported), Brasilia do Summerwind, Gaia do Summerwind and now her new filly!

Congratulations to Adrienne C. Scheck, owner of Gaia do Summerwind and to Nel Syed and Mark, owners of the new foal. This foal will be going to ENGLAND! where we think it will be the first Marchador in that country.

The added bonus is that the filly was born on Adrienne’s birthday – what a gift!

Brazilian Breeders Weekend Jan 26-27

Click on the album photos below to see full-screen.

Brazilian breeders from Haras Avena and Haras do AP arrived in Arizona to celebrate the arrival of frozen semen from 2 of their stallions.   We met the semen and Brazilian vet Caroline Lisboa at the airport and the weekend activities began!   Hosting several dinners and also a barn tour of 4 Mangalarga Marchador barns, we all had a great time.

We will be adding these 2 stallions – Violeiro do Riomar and Carnaval Sao Lourenco – the first importation from Bahia state to the website in February.  Watch for their announcements.   Truly, they will add to the MM genetics here in North America.

Our thanks to Carlos Avena, Juliane Avena, Paulo Novoa, Ana Paula Novoa, Laura Patterson Rosa and Caroline Lisboa, who never gave up in this multi-year, international effort.   Thanks to all the SW Future Foal breeders and owners who always give their support!

Luna do Summerwind Arrives! Nov 2, 2017

Luna is here!  Her dam is Isabelle do Great Lakes, a beautiful blue roan Marchador mare.  Also known as Izzy, she is owned by Karen Livesay and Randy Conilogue, breeding with us as Future Foal @ Sedona.

Her sire is Talisma Kafe, a black and white tobiano stallion, using imported frozen semen.  The semen is from Haras Elfar, a prominent Marchador breeding farm in Brazil.  Luna is the full sibling to Jedi-Knight do Summerwind, now 2 years old.

Everything we hoped for, and more!    She has been reserved by Christine and Craig McNeil.

Congratulations to Christine and Craig!   We are so impressed with your baby!

Christine writes ” I have a life-long love of horses and have ridden over the years as often and as much as possible.  I have known for a very long time the incredible benefits of being around horses and the bond that can be had between horse and human.  I also have a special interest in equine assisted therapy both for physical and psychological challenges.  Now that my husband, Craig, and I are nearing retirement, I am able to realize my dream of owning horses.  I focused my search on gaited horses and came across the Marchador breed and SummerWind Marchadors. We are purchasing our 2 horses through Future Foal and are very excited for the day we can bring them home to northern Wisconsin where we will be retiring.”

We can’t wait for you to come and see your new baby!   She is stunning!  And friendly!   Below are some photos of Luna and her almost daily  visitors since being born.

Marchadors in Cowboy Dressage

Our update from Laurie Klassen in SK, Canada:

“A successful season has come to a close for this Saskatchewan Cowboy Dressage rider. The cold and snow has crept in and the horses will have a winter layoff now.

The season was fun and I feel I accomplished some good goals. Both of my Marchadors ended up competing after my mare Joia had to be laid off to an illness.

Joia has beautiful rhythm and this season received a bronze award and pin for her accomplishments.  Beethoven went from the trail to the rail to the show arena in a blink of an eye as he stood in for Joia.
Beethoven received some good marks in his dressage tests and was awarded a champion ribbon.  Judges for the season were Kim Moats Canada and Lynn Ringrose Moe California for the finals.

Marchadors have lovely rhythmic movement and I encourage MM owners to give this sport a try.

Thank you to Jody Lynn Busch Horsemanship for her guidance.”
