WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MARCHADORS!

Introducing our P babies!

Puka do Summerwind – bay tobiano filly. Reserved and headed to North Carolina eventually. Headed for Colorado for the summer months with dam Isabelle do Great Lakes, owned by Karen and Randy. Another great baby for Izzy and our first from newly imported frozen semen Atrevido do Porto Palmeira.

Puka do Summerwind

Paris do Summerwind – bay filly. Staying put with owner Cathy Pierce and her dam Cassandra do MManor. Another filly from imported semen from Arun de Maripa (so far only 1 boy in the mix and we love getting fillies!) Video is her first time out! So cute.

Padawan do Summerwind – bay tobiano colt. He waited until April to be born! But well worth the wait! He will stay a stud colt / stallion prospect for Elizabeth Sims in AZ (who also owns Jedi-Knight and Leia do Summerwind). He will also enjoy the summer months in Pagosa Springs with dam Brasilia do Summerwind.

CONTEST!! Guess the birthdays!

3 chances to win! Contest runs from today to March 17th! Get your guesses in!

Contest is being held on SW Future Foal – Mangalarga Marchador FB page, or send us an email at futurefoal@gmail.com. Only one guess allowed per person per foal. Winners announced as the foals are born.

3 chances to win with 3 foals expected in March, 2021! We are excited and thrilled! Help us with the naming too! We are on the letter P – P** do Summerwind!

First up – guess a date from last week of February to mid-March for the expected foal of Atrevido do Porto Palmeira (frozen semen) and Isabelle do Great Lakes. Izzy is a blue roan mare and the sire is a black bay tobiano.

Isabelle do Great Lakes aka IZZY! She is a blue roan Marchador mare. She’s had spectacular foals so far – Jedi-Knight , a MM stallion, Luna, MM mare and Nandor, a MM stud colt. We are expecting greatness again. As always hoping for a good healthy baby, no matter what the gender or color.

Next up is Cassandra do MManor. Choose a date from Mid March to the first week of April. Cassie is a bay Marchador mare bred to a black bay Marchador stallion (frozen semen). Arun de Maripa is the sire of this foal.

Cassandra do MManor is bred to Arun de Maripa. Cassie has had 2 other wonderful foals – Eduardo and Nobre do Summerwind, both MM geldings.

The third chance to win is with Brasilia do Summerwind, a black bay Marchador mare. Brasilia is also bred to Atrevido do Porto Palmeira using frozen semen. Guess the same as Cassie – from Mid-March to early April.

Recent photo of Brasilia do Summerwind. Brasilia has had 3 Marchador foals with us. Fidalgo do Summerwind, a MM gelding; Gaia and Jewel do Summerwind. We are thrilled that she is pregnant after failing to conceive in the last 2 years. Her babies are worth waiting for.

Nobre do Summerwind is born!

Third N Summerwind foal and he is a charm! Born Friday, June 14, 2019! Named Nobre do Summerwind which means noble, he looks like he will grow into his name. He is the son of La Paz Jivago x Cassandra do MManor, born to SW breeder Cathy Pierce in Corpus Christi, TX.

Congratulations to Cathy, and to new owners Elizabeth Sims of Silver Stables and Randy Gassett, both from AZ.

Imported sire La Paz Jivago, has sired foals in Brazil, the US and Canada. He is the son of ELITE 8 stallion Ideal Tabatinga x ELITE 7 mare Favacho Bulgaria (daughter of Tabatinga Senegal x Favacho Sina). Dam Cassandra do MManor is the daughter of 2 imported Marchadors known for producing beautiful foals with great temperament and gait – Frevo da Camaq x Ibiza da Boa Fe.

Already we love this little one. Color may display as grulla, as he is homozygous black with homozygous nd/1 – primitive markings. Summerwind does complete DNA panels on all their foals.

Other N babies so far – Nola do Summerwind (Fole de Maripa x Gaia do Summerwind ; Nandor do Summerwind (Arun de Maripa x Isabelle do Great Lakes.

IMG_0008“I have loved horses all my life, and have owned horses since I was 16 years old.  I was able to take my horse with me to college for 3 out of 4 years.

I have a wonderful husband, Randy, and two great sons.  My husband and I have been hosting foreign exchange students for 14 years.  I am also a coordinator for the exchange organization (ERDT/Share!).  We often choose students to host who love horses.  A few years ago, we hosted David from Brazil.  He and his family raise Mangalarga Marchador horses.  He always told us that when we came to Brazil, we would ride his horses in the mountains.

We were fortunate to be able to visit Brazil in 2012 and indeed we rode David’s Mangalarga Marchador horses in the mountains!  It was a delightful experience.  We had never ridden gaited horses, and they were so smooth.  Even more impressive was their temperament.  I rode David’s stallion-who had an amazing Picada gait!  My husband rode a very nice mare.  As we dismounted, my husband said “Oh man, we have to get one of these!”

When we returned home, we started looking for a Marchador horse of our own.  We found that this is a relatively rare breed in North America.  We used the internet to search for our first Marchador horse. We were fortunate tofind Destiny do Summerwind.  She was a 5 year old buckskin mare.  Her previous owner had health concerns and needed to sell her.12957476_10209238791236277_3059269320730361620_o

It felt like we changed horses in the middle of the stream.  Previously we have owned Arabians, Appaloosas, and Quarter horses.  The Mangalarga Marchadors are so much fun to ride and to live with.  We have become dedicated to promoting this breed, and have bred Destiny, resulting in a pampa (pinto)buckskin gelding, Imperio do Summerwind.

We also were able to purchase a mare and foal from Florida, Cassandra do MManor (Cassie) and Eduardo do MManor (Eddie).    Riding the Mangalarga Marchador mares is great and we look forward to riding their foals in the future.  IMG_0060

As we have progressed with our journey of owning and breeding Mangalarga Marchadors, we have been pleased to know John and Lynn Kelley.  They both are passionate and devoted to the Mangalarga Marchador breed.

The opportunity to join them in promoting the MM’s in North America is our ideal/dream situation.  We hope to be able to import semen and embryos from Brazil and to showcase the MM’s in more areas of North America.”
