Welcome to the World – Leia do Summerwind!

Born April 1st, 2017, the much awaited and anticipated foal of Arun de Maripa x Azenha de Maripa, arrived.   And it’s a GIRL!  LEIA!   We are overjoyed!

A beautiful and correct filly, she is a pure Maripa, a bloodline is a mix of Abaiba, Bela Cruz and Herdade.   In the sire,  Arun de Maripa is also added Favacho and Tabatinga blood from his ELITE sire Favacho Diamante.  It is a wonderful blend!

Named Leia do Summerwind by the Future Foal breeders, Elizabeth and DJ Sims of Silver Stables Marchadors in Phoenix AZ.    They also own Jedi-Knight do Summerwind and now Leia, along with Gralha M.U.G.,  provide them the foundation for their breeding program and she stays part of the FUTURE FOAL network.

Arun de Maripa (imported frozen semen)  has sired one other filly in CA named Gemini do Dreamcatcher.

Azenha de Maripa has produced 4 offspring – in Canada, Beethoven do Summerwind (x La Paz Jivago), in AZ, Hawke do Summewind ( x Ximoio de Maripa),  in UT, Hemingway do Summerwind  (x La Paz Jivago) and now in AZ,  Leia do Summerwind (x Arun de Maripa.

Pictures of Leia from Day 1 to 2 weeks!  Enjoy!

Fole de Maripa

Expected before year-end are 2 sons of Favacho Diamante, Fole de Maripa and Arun de Maripa and senior stallion Stradivarius HO.  On our travels to Brasil, we have met and often rode all of these stallions, including the sire Favacho Diamante.

Favacho Diamante is an Elite Stallion and sire of many National Champions in Brazil.   His Favacho and Tabatinga bloodlines were crossed with the great Maripa bloodlines that are so famous for beauty, conformation and temperament.

Oma de Maripa and Arun de Maripa

Agro Maripa has been breeding Marchador horses for over 35 years.  His genetics are pure and traceable back to the 1800s.   His horses are top drawer, consistent and proven.   We admire Agro Maripa’s dedication (similar to  Raul Junquiera of  Tabatinga) to evaluate each horse for riding and for production.   His love, care and training of his animals is seen and admired by all.  For us, he provides a complete picture of horse partnership and a passionate promoter of the Marchador breed around the world.  To see more of Agro Maripa, here is his website  http://www.agromaripa.com.br

Carioca de Maripa, frozen semen available

Carioca de Maripa is a son of Oma de Maripa (we have Oma’s semen too).  Carioca has been proving himself in performance classes and calvagadas in Brazil.   Great conformation and body, a younger version of Oma.

We will be adding new pages for each stallion with more information, photos and videos.  Check back soon.

Please contact us to reserve your breeding today either with these new stallions or our old favorites: Oma de Maripa, Ximoio de Maripa, La Paz Jivago and Talisma Kafe.

Remember frozen semen lasts forever.  Store some for future breedings!

Brazil Trip 2013

Cheese bread!  Cachaca (sp)!  Old friends! New friends!  Marchador horses!  It was a trip to heaven – I mean Brazil!   It was the best of all worlds – I got to attend the National Show AND go out to visit farms!  Perfect!

Photos below!   If you click on the photo, it will show full-size and then you will need to hit the BACK button to return to the gallery and post.

We visited two farms in Brazil, a favorite of mine, Agro Maripa and a new one for me, but by no means new, Morada Nova.  Exquisite horses and fantastic Brazilian hospitality.  I am always happy to be in Brazil.

At the National Show, the event provided a good mix of entertainment and business.   We met old friends, and some new ones there.  It feels like home to me.    I went down with Rick Schatz, the Marchador breeder from Flying Oaks Ranch.   We did some business there on the Brazilian Saddle Horse project.   We did some shopping.  We admired the horses in the show and at the farm booths.   We did some ABCCMM registration work on U.S. Marchadors for several breeders.

Of great interest was the ABCCMM/APEX collaboration on the project Brazilian Saddle Horse.   APEX strives to promote Brazilian products around the world and has many offices here in the U.S.  They have already worked with the ABCCMM promoting the Marchador breed in Europe and also at the Carnaval in Rio 2013.   Their next events may be in the US in an affiliation with the PBR, Professional Bull Riding.  We will have to wait and see.  Also in the works is the Marchador at other big horse and non-horse events like the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
